Saab originally was not an automobile manufacturer. They were actually an aircraft builder and designer. Saab made several aircrafts for the Swedish military beginning in 1939. In 1944 towards the end of WWII, Saab knew that it was a time of change and needed to reinvent themselves. By the late 1940’s Saab released their first model, the Saab 92 which was a 2 cylinder, 2 stroke motor. Shortly after Saab showed off the Sonett which was a 2 seater sports car that just flew down the highway, exhibiting the same magic and aerodynamics they were known for when they used to build aircrafts. Saab has come a long way from the 1950’s, yet still stays close to their origins. Their slogan is “Built from Jets” which is actually true considering their history.
